A free Marine RADAR class will be conducted starting at 10 AM (until
noon-ish) in the community room, parking lot
level of the Santa Cruz Harbor,
365A Lake Ave.
The course will cover:
- How does RADAR work? What
shows up and what doesn't. Ghosts ...
- How do you adjust the controls?
Range, Gain, Sea clutter, Rain clutter ...
- How do you interpret the
patterns? Head-up/North-up/Course-up display ...
- Using RADAR for
navigation and collision avoidance. "Right-of-way?" ...
- RADAR, Chart
Plotters, Integrated Displays, AIS, ARPA ...

Santa Cruz Harbor Community Room is in the Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor area not far from the Public Boat Launch area.


The meeting room is in the parking lot that you enter from Lake Avenue.
Other classes will be held at the Nautical Classroom at Moss Landing. The website will be updated whenever a new class has been scheduled.
The classroom is located in the same building as the Harbor Master's Office, but on the back side. You will need to purchase a parking permit from the machine at the Harbor Master's Office.
